Rachel Haot is the Chief Digital Officer and Deputy Secretary of Technology for the State of New York. She was recruited to that position after serving for three years as Chief Digital Officer for New York City. As part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration, Haot authored the Digital Roadmap for NYC, which included plans to bring WiFi to public spaces, expand digital access and upgrade the user experience of city government online, among many other things. Before joining City Hall, Haot founded the citizen journalism platform GroundReport and ran her own digital strategy consulting company, Upward. She has also taught social media and entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School.
